The 30th IAIA Annual Meeting Discusses Korea's Impact Assessment and Green Growth

  

Korea is to deliver presentations on the 'Impact Assessment and Green Growth in Republic of Korea' at the 30th Annual Meeting of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), which is held under auspices of UNEP in Geneva, Switzerland from April 6 to 11, 2010.

※  Organized in 1980, IAIA is the academic association on environment joined by 2500 experts from 123 nations. Korea held the 27th annual meeting with the participation by 93 nations in June 2007.

 

Myung-jin Kim of the National Institute of Environmental Research will lead Korea’s special session under the theme ‘Impact Assessment and Green Growth in South Korea’ and introduce the result of Korea’s environmental research.

 

During the special session, the following presentations will be given:

-        Performance of Green Growth Policies in Chungnam

-        Ecosystem Assessment Using Environmental Specimen Bank (ESB)

-        Species Distribution Models (SDMs)

-        Nanomaterials Safety and Risk Management in Korea

-        Korean Green Growth: The Transition to Sustainability

-        Development of Cooperation Between Vietnam and Korea on Program of Green Growth of Korean Government

 

With the title ‘The Role of Impact Assessment in Transitioning to the Green Economy,' the 30th annual meeting is expected to become an opportunity for Korea to share its best practices on impact assessment and green growth.

 

In addition, on the occasion of the International Year of Biodiversity, 60 special presentations will be delivered including valuation of biodiversity, health impact and freely accessible global biodiversity database.
