▷ Three types of net-zero rewards programs into a single app

Sejong, April 25 - The Ministry of Environment (ME, Minister Han Jeoung Ae) published the "Climate Action 1.5℃" app, an integrated mobile app for a net-zero rewards program that allows users to learn about the points-based rewards program and check individual accumulated points. The app is an expanded version of the current app designated primarily for children and young people. However, anybody engaging in one of the three types of net-zero rewards programs can use the new app. It will be available from April 22 for download on Play Store for Android users and App Store for iOS users, with the keyword "climate action."

One of the app's key features is that it has significantly increased user convenience by merging all of the services that are provided individually from the websites of the three net-zero rewards programs. Users can join the membership, accumulate points, view the information of participating companies, or check their points on a single app, eliminating the effort of searching several websites. The app will also be updated regularly until the end of the year with new features, including finding nearby member stores.

The Ministry of Environment will be hosting a series of events at various locations in Seoul from April 22 to 28 to commemorate the launch of Climate Action 1.5℃: Gwangjin Foundation for Arts & Culture (April 22), COEX (April 24-25), Seoul Plaza (April 26-27), and Yeouido Plaza (April 28). Participants can use kiosks or scan the QR codes during the activities while visiting the exhibition booths to sign up for the "net-zero rewards program" or download the Climate Action 1.5℃ app. Those who downloaded the app will receive a gift of shampoo and body wash from the refill station.

The Ministry of Environment plans to hold various events every month for app users and award prizes depending on their involvement in the program or performance. The net-zero rewards program, which began in January 2022, will begin to reward in May, based on individual performance in the year's first half. In the second half of the year, the accumulated points will be given out monthly according to the user's preference, either in cash or credit card points. Net-zero points will be calculated twice a year and paid out in June and December, whereas net-zero points for vehicles will be calculated annually and paid out in November.

Kim Beop-jeong, Deputy Minister of Climate Change and Carbon Neutral Policy, said, "Using the integrated net-zero rewards platform 'Climate Action 1.5℃', you can easily check your net-zero performance and accumulated points. The Ministry expects that our daily practice towards carbon neutrality would halt the rise of our planet's temperature."
